A bridge between law enforcement and community
With a steadfast belief in serving as a bridge between law enforcement and the community, Justin offers a unique blend of law enforcement experience, communication prowess, and business acumen, making him ideally suited for the role of Canadian County Sheriff.
Contributing member of Canadian County community for decades
Born and raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, and a graduate of Edmond Memorial High School, Justin married Donna in October 1994. Together, they raised a daughter and son in Mustang, Oklahoma, where both children graduated from Mustang High School and became successful contributors to the community. Throughout their upbringing, Justin and Donna were actively involved in their children’s activities, supporting them and their peers with donations and sponsorships.
Proven leadership and honorable law enforcement experience
Justin’s professional journey began in the Automotive Industry, managing Sammy’s Wrecker Service, before transitioning to the Oil and Gas Industry in 1997 with Ken’s Oilfield Service. In 2008, he assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer, overseeing Ken’s Oilfield Service and its subsidiary, Action Air and Equipment, based in Yukon, Oklahoma. During his tenure, he set industry standards in Non-Destructive Testing, servicing clients nationwide and internationally, ensuring his team remained highly trained and certified, and fostering a culture of professionalism and excellence.
His law enforcement career began in 2010 when he joined the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy under Sheriff Randall Edwards, later becoming Captain of the reserve division. Transitioning to a full-time patrol deputy in 2015, Justin dedicated himself to serving the community and was recognized by the Sheriff’s Office and State for numerous achievements, including lifesaving efforts and dedication to the citizens of Canadian County.
Committed to growth and community service
While serving at the Sheriff’s Office, Justin pursued higher education at Mid-American Christian University, graduating with honors in Criminal Justice and Ethics in 2021. He subsequently obtained advanced C.L.E.E.T. accreditation from the State of Oklahoma, further enhancing his professional qualifications. He also obtained multiple FEMA class certificates in incident management, leadership, and public information officer awareness.
In 2022, Justin made the difficult decision to leave the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office to prepare for his candidacy for Sheriff. During this time, he accepted a position with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, continuing his commitment to law enforcement and community service.
A vision for promoting public safety, enhancing community engagement, and ensuring transparency.
His vision for the Sheriff’s Office centers on promoting public safety, enhancing community engagement, and ensuring transparency. He aims to lead by example, actively participating in patrol duties, and maintaining an open-door policy to foster communication with both citizens and deputies. Additionally, he plans to improve agency efficiency by updating procedures and technology, ensuring all deputies are equipped with necessary tools, such as body-worn and in-car cameras, for transparency and accountability.
As Sheriff, Justin will prioritize the safety of the community by reinstating programs such as seatbelt enforcement and impaired driving patrols. He will also focus on combating illegal drug activity and human trafficking through enhanced criminal interdiction efforts. Furthermore, he will work to reinstate School Resource Deputies in all schools, ensuring the safety of all students.
The rapid growth of Canadian County demands a Sheriff’s Office that is well-equipped and well-trained to address diverse challenges. Justin is committed to ensuring deputies are CIT trained to handle mental health emergencies and will work with the commissioners to maintain a fully staffed and adequately funded agency. He also believes in fiscal responsibility and will make cuts where necessary, such as selling unnecessary assets like the agency’s airplane and returning surplus vehicles. He wants to expand the cybercrime division to further help all citizens in the county.
In closing, Justin believes in the power of unity and collaboration within the community. Despite differences, they share common goals of safety and prosperity.
